Tan Sri Dato’. Bentara Istana Nik Hashim bin Nik Ab. Rahman served as a Judge of the High Court Malaya since 1997. Since October 1, 1995, Tan Sri Dato’. bin Nik Ab. Rahman served as Judicial Commissioner of the High Court Malaya and was posted to Kota Bharu and later to Kuala Lumpur. On August 1, 2003, he was promoted to the Court of Appeal and served as Judge of the Federal Court from June 17, 2005 to July 1, 2009.
Tan Sri Dato’. bin Nik Ab. Rahman served as Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law and International Relation of the University of Darul Iman Malaysia from February 1, 2009 to January 31, 2010. He was an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law and International Relations of the Sultan Zainal Abidin University from 2009 to 2013.
He started his career in 1963 as a Clerical Officer with the Land Office & General Hospital Kota Bharu, Kelantan. He served as Police Inspector from 1964 to 1968. Tan Sri Dato’. bin Nik Ab. Rahman has held various posts in the JLS from 1970 to 1994: a magistrate in Klang and Kuala Terengganu; President of the Sessions Court in Temerloh and Muar.
He has been Chairman of the Board of Baswell Resources Bhd since March 31, 2010; a Deputy Director of the Legal Aid Bureau; Senior Federal Counsel of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government; Judge Advocate, Ministry of Defense; Deputy Public Prosecutor, Sarawak; State Legal Advisor, Terengganu; Senior Federal Counsel (Special Unit) in the Attorney General’s Chambers; Deputy Parliamentary Draftsman; Public Trustee and Official Administrator; the first and founding Director General of the Judicial and Legal Training Institute (ILKAP) and Chairman of the Advisory Board in the Prime Minister’s Department, Taiping Perak before he was retired on national interest to be appointed to the Malaysian Judiciary. He has been a Member of the Syariah Appeal Court, Kelantan since April 1998.
He serves as Non-Executive Director at Asia Paper International Holdings Limited. He has been an Independent Non Executive Director of Borneo Aqua Harvest Bhd since December 15, 2015. He has been Senior Independent Non-Executive Director of Olympia Industries Bhd since Setember 18, 2013. He has been an Independent & Non Executive Director of Olympia Industries Bhd since February 03, 2010. He has been an Independent & Non Executive Director of Baswell Resources Bhd sincwe February 24, 2010. He serves as Director of Tropicana Golf & Country Resort Berhad. He served as a Director of China Stationery Limited from 2010 to July 2, 2014 and as its Senior Independent Non-Executive Director until July 2, 2014.
He was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law of the Inner Temple, London and upon his return, joined the Judicial and Legal Service (JLS). He served as a Member of the Royal Police Force Commission from March 12, 2004 to March 11, 2008. Tan Sri Dato’. bin Nik Ab. Rahman’s qualifications include: Sekolah Melayu Ab. Hadi Banggol, Kota Bharu, Kelantan from 1948 to 1954; Islah English School Kota Bharu, Kelantan from 1955 to 1958; Sultan Ismail College Kota Bharu, Kelantan from 1959 to 1962; and Barrister-At-Law, Inner Temple, London from 1968 to 1970. He completed an Executive Education program at Harvard Business School, Boston USA in July 2010.
