The Asian Institute of Finance once reported in 2015 that 76% employers reporting talent shortages, 77% employers reported that it was increasing difficult to hire and among all those jobs, “specialist” in the areas of “Risk Management & Compliance”, “Product Development” and “Asset/Wealth Management” were among those most difficult jobs to be filled. The MERITUS University’s Bachelor of Science (Hons) Finance (Investment Strategy) is specially designed for these opportunities.
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Finance (Investment Strategy) is a unique program offered by MERITUS University that enables students to build a holistic understanding of the ecosystem of finance and investment industry from both business as well as technical aspects.
There were limitless opportunities for graduates with this qualification. Below are some of the conventional opportunities for graduates with focuses on banks and investment firms but today’s opportunities has reach out to companies of various types ranging from personal investment advisors, entrepreneur to small medium enterprises and large corporations:
Generate reports summarizing financial data for use by executives, managers and other stakeholders when making business decisions
Credit Managers oversee a firm’s insurance of credit, establishing credit-rating criteria, determining credit ceilings, and monitoring the collections of past-due accounts. Managers specializing in international finance develop financial and accounting systems for the banking transactions of multinational organizations.
Plan, direct and coordinate the financial operations and participants in formulating the financial policy within a government agency, corporate business, or organizations
Financial Analysts (also called securities analysts and investment analysts) work for banks, insurance companies, funds, securities firms, and other businesses, helping these companies or their clients make investment decisions
Develop financial plans for individuals organizations and invest and manage funds on their behalf
Provide assistance to international trade specialists by collecting and analyzing information related to international trade opportunities. They work in foreign investment firms, banks, government agencies and as consultants.
Facilitate a company in issuing stock or bonds by giving advices on how much a company is worth and how best to structure a deal with consideration of an acquisition, merger or sale project by identifying risks associated with the project. It may also include the issuing of securities as a means of raising money for the client groups, and creating the documentation for the Securities and Exchange Commission necessary for a company to go public
