Welcoming New & Current Students Back to Campus!

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 January 2022 – MERITUS University has restarted face-to-face teaching for all students beginning Monday 3 January 2022 onward. We are pleased to welcome back all current and new students to campus.

To kick off the students motivation, Prof. Dr. Mokhtar Abdullah, the Vice Chancellor of MERITUS University welcomed the group of students consisting of foundation and degree students during the Meet and Greet session on 3rd January 2022. During his session, Prof. Mokhtar delivered his inspirational and motivational remarks to the students to make the best out of their time physically on campus. Prof. Mokhtar also highlighted the university’s continual mission in producing high-skilled and industry-relevant talents.

Students were also advised to strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to be aware of their state of health on and off campus.

15 MERITUS graduates are awarded CILTM professional recognition

Kuala Lumpur, 13 November 2021 – A total of 15 students from the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Maritime Business programme were awarded the professional recognition of Accredited Academic Programme by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Malaysia (CILTM). CILT Malaysia’s Accredited Academic Programme is a stamp of quality given to academic programs in the fields of logistics, transport and supply chain management.

The 19TH CILTM convocation ceremony was held virtually at Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) on 13 November 2021.

Overall, 512 graduates were awarded the professional recognition, while 19 graduates from 15 institutions received the Best Student Awards. Among the top 19 recipients, two graduates were awarded the prestigious President’s Award for their excellent academic performance this year. Afifah Balqis Binti Amir was the recipient of the Best Student Award for MERITUS University.

The universities and colleges, which participated in the convocation, were MERITUS University, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, UNIKL MIMET, UNIKL MITEC, Universiti Utara Malaysia, UCSI University, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, UiTM, Kolej Professional Mara Bandar Penawar, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, AK Academy, United Vision Academy and Royal Malaysia Navy.

The ceremony was officiated and conferred by the CILT International President Dato Ts Abd Radzak Abd Malek FCILT in attendance of Dato’ Muhammad Muhiyuddin Haji Abdullah CMILT the President of CILT Malaysia and CILTM Management Councils.

CILTM has been appointed as the National Industrial Lead Body (ILB) for the Logistics & Transport Sector. This is an exclusive and privileged appointment by Department of Skills Development (DSD), under Ministry of Human Resource, which aims to support the national aspiration to develop and upgrade the competency skills and capabilities of personnel working in the Logistics & Transport Sector in Malaysia.

MERITUS’ staff & students participates in CSR Project by CILT Malaysia

SELANGOR, 31 December 2021 – The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Malaysia (CILTM) had organized a food distribution project to help victims who were affected by the recent flash floods.

Upon receiving the invitation from CILTM, the team at MERITUS University wasted no time to extend a helping hand to the victims who are in dire need of the community’s help. The Vice Chancellor of MERITUS University, Professor Dr. Mokhtar Abdullah and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs & Industrial Linkages), Ts Dr. Othman Ibrahim along with lecturers, staff and students were involved in the distribution of food supplies at PPS Bukit Lanchong.

There were also volunteers from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (MIAT).

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs & Industrial Linkages) Appointed as Vice President of CILT Malaysia

 

30 October 2021 – Ts Dr. Othman bin Ibrahim, MERITUS University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs & Industrial Linkages) was appointed as the new Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Malaysia on 30 October 2021.

In addition to that, on 13 November 2021, Ts Dr. Othman was conferred as Chartered Fellow of CILT during the conferment of Fellowship/FCILT (UK) from CILT International United Kingdom.

Chartered Fellow (FCILT) is the highest professional membership grade of the Institute. It is awarded to eminent individuals who have contributed significantly to the industry. MERITUS University is proud of Ts Dr. Othman’s achievements and wishes him continuous success.
