Meritus University collaborates with Selangor Wilayah Industrial Security Society

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 FEBRUARY 2023 – MERITUS University and Selangor Wilayah Industrial Security Society (SWiSS) signed an agreement to formalise their continuous collaborative effort in elevating the standards of security services in Malaysia.

Their ongoing partnership features training programmes and certification courses aimed to raise the human capital quality of maritime security, particularly the workforce in supervisory and managerial roles ranging from former police officers, security guards, to other security personnel. These courses are designed to cater to the specific industry demand in security management, maritime and shipping operation, and port auxiliary. The programme modules and assessment are primarily focused on the basic requirement and competency level for security management.

MERITUS University is well-placed to support the demands for well-trained workforce as we offer academic programmes that are accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) as well as professional development training programmes comprising various aspects of maritime business management. The collaboration between MERITUS University and SWiSS reaffirms the commitment of both organisations to further facilitate the professional development of human capital in the security sector, specifically in the maritime industry,” said Tan Sri (Dr.) Halim Mohammad, Founder and Chairman of MERITUS University and renowned Malaysian maritime expert.

 

The Memorandum of Agreement signing ceremony between MERITUS University and SWiSS also witnessed the conferment of the Security Assessment Certification to the pioneer batch of security practitioners and officers for their fulfilment of five (5) levels of certification course assessment on security competency requirements. Hailing from diverse backgrounds, these ten (10) participants share the same aspiration to pursue security education development and career progression. MERITUS University and SWiSS will soon be receiving the course’s second batch of participants.

 

Present at the ceremony were Tan Sri (Dr.) Halim; Tan Sri Haji Musa Tan Sri Haji Hassan, Chairman of SWiSS; Prof. Dr. Mokhtar Abdullah, Vice Chancellor, MERITUS University; Datuk Dr. Mohd Noor Awang, Deputy Chairman, SWiSS; and other invited guests.

Welcoming New & Current Students Back to Campus!

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 January 2022 – MERITUS University has restarted face-to-face teaching for all students beginning Monday 3 January 2022 onward. We are pleased to welcome back all current and new students to campus.

To kick off the students motivation, Prof. Dr. Mokhtar Abdullah, the Vice Chancellor of MERITUS University welcomed the group of students consisting of foundation and degree students during the Meet and Greet session on 3rd January 2022. During his session, Prof. Mokhtar delivered his inspirational and motivational remarks to the students to make the best out of their time physically on campus. Prof. Mokhtar also highlighted the university’s continual mission in producing high-skilled and industry-relevant talents.

Students were also advised to strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to be aware of their state of health on and off campus.

MERITUS’ staff & students participates in CSR Project by CILT Malaysia

SELANGOR, 31 December 2021 – The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Malaysia (CILTM) had organized a food distribution project to help victims who were affected by the recent flash floods.

Upon receiving the invitation from CILTM, the team at MERITUS University wasted no time to extend a helping hand to the victims who are in dire need of the community’s help. The Vice Chancellor of MERITUS University, Professor Dr. Mokhtar Abdullah and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs & Industrial Linkages), Ts Dr. Othman Ibrahim along with lecturers, staff and students were involved in the distribution of food supplies at PPS Bukit Lanchong.

There were also volunteers from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (MIAT).
